I may have mentioned that I applied to the library to participate in their author day in October. I didn’t get picked. I was bummed for an hour. Onward and upward, y’know?
I still haven’t heard back from Readers of the Valley, aka Bookish Becca about the Whiskey and Words event in March of 2027. With her, she doesn’t tell you no. She just doesn’t answer, which to be honest, is a little annoying. Okay, it’s a big job, but it was her idea in the first place. Meanwhile, it leaves people sitting in limbo, not knowing if they should apply for a different event on the same day or not. And all her 2026 events are now filled so there was no hope of getting into a holiday event.
I looked into another one in Mesa and it looked pretty good. Until I read the particulars. Not only is it $350 just for your space, but you have to have insurance. I don’t remember all the numbers, but I do know that the first number was 1 million dollars in coverage. And you had to name the city of Mesa as one of the insureds. I don’t think so. You’re a city…insure yourself. So that was a bust.
The one I sent $50 to hasn’t replied, but I wasn’t going to accept anyway since it was too expensive. Plus, a $100 donation of goods. Go to local businesses and ask for donations like everyone else, not your starving artist community.
But today I got an email. I was accepted into the 2026 FQ Story Home & Garden Tour & Holiday Marketplace! And I got the booth location that I wanted. So, I’m happy. I have a December market which opens up the holiday shopping I was hoping to tap into and the Scottsdale Book Festival in January.
By December, I should have The Shadow Canyon Pack and Legacy available as well.
